Evaluation

The project title for this brief was Everyday Life and I had to get a load of photographs of everyday life which is basically anything. For my finals 6, I made the theme name of “Destination Unknown” which meant looking at a person or a car etc. Going somewhere but no knowing where it would be going to. I felt this was a good theme to follow down because it gave a wide scope to look at different aspects of life. In my six photographs I looked at travel, post, and people. I feel that the post box photograph was a very in depth photo to look at for the unknown destination.

My first photograph was of a man walking down a set of stairs in a multi-story car park. I feel that the photo to start with was captured well because of the natural light that appears. When I edited the photo I just used the brightness and contrast tool to make the photo stand out and look even better, and this tool gave it a great look and did for most of my photographs. I feel that the negative space around the man is an aspect that also makes it stand out loads and the bold colours of the brick wall make it stand out. I had another shoot with the same man and this was down the same stairs but high up and the lighting didn’t play well that time, which is why I used the photo I did.

The next photograph I used was of a car using the underpass by the airport, I thought this was a good photo because there were a few different stories of what could have been going on e.g. dropping someone off, coming back from a holiday etc. After editing the photograph I use the photo that was black and white because I felt it made the mood better and gave it a creepy feel. Again in this photograph the light is a really good aspect that helps improve the look of the picture. To edit it, I used the desturate tool and then played with brightness and contrast to give this great look. There was another shoot similar but you couldn’t see the car to well which is why I used this photo.

The next one was of a lady running with her bags to the airport, as she is behind and running a bit late. I felt this one fit well in the theme because it gave such a wide range of unknown places she could have been going. To edit the photo I used the desturate tool and then played with brightness and contrast again as it gives such a stand out, bold feel to the image. I feel that there is a weakness in the photograph because of the angle I got, but there is not much I could do because it was just a quick snap, and was not set up. There wasn’t another photo I could have used which is why I used this one.

The one of the post box, is a really in depth look at destination unknown and looking at where the post would end up. I really like the fact that it is a close up as it takes up most of the photo frame and makes a good statement. I used a colour photograph so that it would stand out; being as the red colour the royal mail use is a bright and bold to make it stand out on the street. All I did to edit the photo was to make it bright and bold by playing with the contrast and again I feel that this has given it a really successful look. I didn’t use the other one of the post box because there was too much going on around the photo and wasn’t as successful.

The second to last photo that I have used was of a line of taxis waiting to be used, I felt that this was another photo that when looked at would be thought about but afterwards you could see that where is this next taxi going to end up. Again when I edited it I did the same as I did for the lady running and the underpass ones because it gave such a bold effect. I feel that the contrast plays well. I feel that I could have taken more photos just different angles which could have improved the photo.

The last of my photographs was of a lorry on the motorway which I felt fitted well in my theme of Destination Unknown. Again the natural sun light plays well and makes it very noticeable in a crowd. With the photo I played with the curves which made it a lot better to look at. I was very stuck with what photo to decide to use though because I had two very decent photographs of lorry’s but this one stood out that little more. Over all though i feel that my final six work very well as a group and on there own.

Destination Unknown

This is the last of my 6 photographs of the looking at where the lorry is going and what is in the lorry. I used this because the lorry could be either dropping something off or picking it up, but again we don't no from this photo, which is why again it fits so well in to the theme of Destination Unknown.

Destination Unknown

The second before last photo that i have got is looking at a lady running as clearly she is late for her flight. This is why, i looked at this photo and added it to the collection of six because the you don't have any idea where she is going it could be so far away from England, this reason i didn't zoom in to it, is because she is so small compared to where she is or could be going and that's why i feel she fits the theme very well.

Destibation Unknown

This is the fourth photograph of the 6 photos that fit to my theme of Destination Unknown. The idea behind this photo is where will the taxis being next, as they have no clue to where they will be going from this location. It could be very far journey or could be a quick 10 minute drive to a local place, again the Destination is Unknown.

Destination Unknown

The third photograph in the collection for my theme is looking at the post in the postbox and where the post will be going, it really could be going anywhere to a friend, family or business, also the main point is where it going going to. It could be that its a local place to the post box in Luton, or that it could be a far as Scotland or even further to Spain, America or New Zealand. Again the Destination is Unknown.

Destination Unknown

My second photograph was taken at the Luton Airport underpass. I put this photograph in my final six because I like that there are again many unknown stories about the car in the photo. The person/people could have been on Holiday and are on the way back home, someone could have dropped some people off to go on their Holiday, again there are so many stories the Destination is just Unknown.

Destination Unknown

This is the first of my 6 final photographs, the theme for each photograph is Destination Unknown, and in this photograph it looks at where the man is going to. I took the photograph walking downstairs from a multi story car park, the reason I feel this photograph fits well with the theme is because he could be going to meet someone, a group of people, he could have an appointment, the possible stories are endless to what her could be doing which is why his "destination" is "unknown".

Sunday 2 May 2010

This was another photo that i got in the club, which again i feel that i have had a great success with because the way the colours are mixing in with the people dancing. I feel it is a very attractive photo and could be edited very well.

This photo again was taken in a Northampton club. I feel this picture has a great vibe about it, this is because of the movement and colours that have appeared because of the party mode on the camera i used. I feel that the blues and purples really work with idea of being in a club and gives a great story and could be edited well.

This photo i took on a night out in a Northampton club. What i really like about this picture ias because the women has light colour hair and light outfit it makes her stand out on the dark background. I really like way i caputered this photo where the women is dancing and her hair covers her face and it makes it easier to put on the internet with out asking.
I really like this picture for many different reasons, one is what most of my photos have a good an aspect in each one is the natural light source which is helping to make my photo bright and stand out. Also the compoistion of the photo with the old lady just enjoy the weather and watching the world go by which makes a nice story. This photo was taking at the St Alburns Park in the centre.

The reason for this photograph is the the story behind the photo, as it was really random to come across this walking to a park in St Alburns. I feel that aging the colours in th photo help because of the light and then it creates the reflection on the water which is a good look to make the photo a more interesting piece to look at and talk about and this one will do.
Again because of the amount of light and sun that was around that day, which makes every photo a lot more attractive. This photograph is of a chruch in the town Centre of St Alburns i feel that the image is a good look, but has no interest behind the photograph which makes the whole image a little boring.

This photo, i find this one of my most attractive and successful photograph because of the natural light that beems in the photo and makes it look slightly edited but this is not edited at all. The idea behind the photo could be really good and have a very good story about the photograph. The photo was taken in St Alburns multi-story car park.

The Photograph above was taken in Harpenden, I really think that the sun light really helps make the photo a success, as i think the photo is boring and has no story really but the light is really helping to make the photograph more attractive.

This photograph is just a really nice looking photograph of the Luton Hoo Hotel, because the building is a nice looking one. One thing that makes this photo is the natural sun light which lightens the whole image, which has some trees and the sun beeming on to the hotel in the background.

This photo looks a little boring looking but i feel that the colour once edited would shine through the photograph and make it stand out. The story is unnoticed at the moment but it could be seen later on.

The photo above was taken in a fast food place in Luton, i really just this photo because of the two chairs empty and then in the background is the two people eating a meal. I feel that the compoistion is what make this photo and if edited would look very good as a final piece.

The photo above, i took of a lady walking down the stairs because i felt that the staircase was very bright and because the women was wearing dark clothing which made the whole photo work together. What i also really like about the photo is the way that you can see she is moving because of the blur to her feet.
This photo, I really liked it because of the compoistion with the lady look to be walking out of the photo. Again this photo was taken in Wardown Park in Luton. The colours also stick out very well and the when edited i feel could look even better.

This photo has such a good look to it because of the way the dog and man have just been naturally taken and had some colours which when edited could really stand out and make the whole photo look interesting. The photo was taken in Wardown Park in Luton.

This photograph was take a the local carp centre, which is local to me. I really like this photograph because firstly the colours of the fish stand out really well, also the water has created the most amazingly looking reflection and movement to the photograph. With he story of the photo i don't feel that there is much which does let it down a little bit because that is a main aspect of the brief. I also really like the composition with all the fish busy and looked to be a packed in but that is because i have just zoomed up to it.

I really like this photo because of how i captured the frog jumping and leaping in to the pond, and the look of it makes the photo, but other than that its colour are very dull and even if i worked on the picture, i feel that it won't be very successful/

Tuesday 13 April 2010

The Photo above is again taken in Luton Town Centre. What i really like about this photo is that you can't see what they are building behind, because it is masked off and it makes you think about what is going to be behind. I like the way the crain is hang over the edge aswell, it adds some interest to the picture, also i feel the colours in th photo make you carm and cool becaus they are bright.
The image above was taken from Luton shopping centre. I added this photo because i like it for many reasons. First i feel the composition of the photo is a good look and has a very natural feel to the picture, this was because they didnt no i was taken it. I'm able to put it up due to the fact that you can't see any of there faces clearly. Also i like it because of the lighting in the image, the way the sun has broken through the window and has created an interesting contrast on light and dark areas in to the image. The last reason is the angle i took the photo at.

This is another picture that i took at the airport, but this is of cars leaving the airport, it makes me think have they been away somewhere hot and come back or have they dropped a loved one or friend to go away, or maybe picked someone up. There are many things that that this picture could tell you about. Another reason i really like this picture is that it starts really dark and then there is a sudden burst of light which shows you two cars which are quite faint looking. This is an image i would edit on photo-shop.

This photo was taken at Luton/London Airport, it shows a women running with her luggage as she is clearly late for her flight and needs to get there quick! I really like the look of this picture because it is something that happens to a lot of people and people who look at the picture can relate to the picture. What makes this image really good is the amount of natural light as it brightens up the whole image. When editing the image to follow the mood of the image i could try making it black and white to give a dull look! Another idea, could be to make it look like an old photo so it seems like it when a lot of migrants came to Luton.

Tuesday 30 March 2010

Again this another photo from the wagamamas meal, I also posted this because of the colours and the way it stands out to me. Its a cheesecake with lemon sauce and the lemon sauce really brightens up the picture making the photo stand out. This photo has not been edited at all.

This is a picture from a meal I went to at Wagamamas in Milton Keynes on Monday 29th March.
I really like this photo because of the focus on the food and the colours in the picture makes it really stand out, I feel the camera has picked up a lot of the detail in the food.
The photograph above is another one of my best photos of my time there. I like this photo because of the light flowing out the clouds, which is high-lighting areas of the lake and making it stand out. I also like the way i captured the swan swimming in from the side as it adds some character to the image, making it more interesting.

This an image i took on the 28th March at Willen Lake, Milton Keynes. It is one of my favourite that I took of the day. I like the way the sun light is creating a beautiful reflection on the lake and the sky stands out because the light starting from the sky.
